Student Renderings

Students this week have been perfecting a residential model that they designed and built in Revit last week.  This week they are tweaking the geometry and camera views and then exporting their models to 3DS Max for renderings.  Max allows them to use ambient occlusion layers (and export them to Photoshop), use higher quality materials, abstract renderings, high polygon furniture, etc.  They were all very good.  Below is a sampling of the fantastic work they've been doing:

Classroom Render

A week ago one of the homework assignments was to model the classroom we are in.  A few students took it a step further and rendered + photoshoped some perspective views.  I'll hopefully be posting some of them over the next few weeks as they are looking very strong.  Here is Meghan's render.  Note the projector and the custom podium!

Classical Architecture

Eric decided to see what he could do with a more classical design in Revit.   He sent me this work in progress model.  The columns are currently generic models but he is moving toward figuring out column families and doing more work on the architrave.  We've been doing a lot of work in class with families but each type is always a bit different.

Massing Exercise

One of the assignments this week was for students to go through the massing exercises listed on David Light's great Blog.  Joe took it to the next level and loaded them into a project environment and then rendered them!  Take a look:
